Erasmus+ KA210-VET – Small-Scale Partnerships in Vocational Education And Training
Strengthening, Integration Of Digital Competencies And Improve Quality Standarts in Workplace-Based Vocational Education
The first mobility of the project titled “Strengthening, Integration of Digital Competencies and Improving Quality Standards in Workplace-Based Vocational Education” was carried out between 23–27 September 2024 in Piazza Armerina, located in the Sicily region of Italy, hosted by Istituto Istruzione Superiore ‘E. Majorana – A. Cascino, with the participation of partners from Turkey (Akçakoca Vocational Education Center Directorate) and Portugal (Previform – Laboratório, Formação, Higiene e Segurança do Trabalho, Lda).
The project involves the participation of 12 teachers, with 4 experts from each partner institution. During the first mobility, the team conducted the “Training Needs Analysis in Digital Competence” activity in Italy. Within the scope of the Erasmus+ project, the participants also had the opportunity to learn about the historical, social, and cultural structures of the partner countries.
The training needs analysis holds critical importance for ensuring that the upcoming training activities, best practice sharing sessions, and digital tool development efforts within the project are effective and aligned with the objectives. Therefore, in this first mobility, each partner institution thoroughly examined the following aspects:
- Their current digital infrastructure,
- The digital pedagogical competence level of teachers,
- Quality assurance approaches in workplace-based training practices,
- Institutional needs and development areas.
Activities Conducted:
- Each country presented their current situation through presentations and institutional evaluations.
- Workshops were held to discuss the needs of the target groups.
- Visits were made to Italian vocational education institutions, where digital practices and quality processes were observed firsthand.
- A draft of a joint needs analysis survey was created to be implemented across all partner institutions.
- Based on the initial findings, strategies were defined to guide the next steps of the project.
Throughout the activity, effective knowledge and experience sharing took place among the project teams from Turkey, Portugal, and Italy. The partners not only focused on the analysis process but also evaluated the opportunities of digitalization in vocational education and the common challenges faced. This important analysis phase will directly impact the success of future training workshops and digital tool development efforts planned in the later stages of the project.
